This concerto was commissioned by Brian Brown for the Warwickshire
Schools’ String Orchestra and Simon Beezley, who gave the first
performance in Edinburgh in 1982. The concerto is dedicated to the
composer’s wife, Jane.
...a light-hearted composition which shows off the playful, agile
qualities o the instrument, as well as its ability to express long
languid phrases beautifully.
