This short
piece was written to celebrate the 60th birthday of Guy’s old friend
Timothy Reynish and to thank him for his inestimable contribution to
the wind band movement. They first met in the horn section of the
National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Tim was a fine player and
the passing references to Richard Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel
are intentional!
The piece can
be played by a school band even if piccolo, Eb clarinet, baritone
saxophone and horns 3 and 4 are unavailable.
